Activity 1: Video Game. Estimated duration: 4 min
Understanding Functions
Students will explore the concept of functions through relatable analogies and practical examples. They will understand that a function is like a vending machine, where every input (like money) corresponds to exactly one output (like a snack). Students will discover that if any input in a table repeats, or if a vertical line intersects a graph at more than one point, then it is not a function. By the end of the lesson, students will grasp the fundamental characteristics of functions and how to determine if a given representation is indeed a function or not.
