Activity 1: Simulation Game. Estimated duration: 10 min

Wave Interference - Slits

Put up a barrier to see how the waves move through one or two slits, and discover the resulting interference pattern. Determine how to change the pattern by adjusting the slit width and separation. Predict the location of the interference maxima and minima, and verify your predictions. Note: Students will automatically move through this simulation after 10 minutes of playtime.

Activity 2: Question Game. Estimated duration: 8 min

Super Reflector

You will use a mirror to reflect the incoming light to hit gold coins, but you must avoid hitting the three eyed monsters! As you collect points for gold coins, you learn about electromagnetic waves and the light spectrum. Pay close attention to the teaching screens as there will be a quiz at the end where you will need to use your extensive knowledge of electromagnetic waves to boost your score.

Prism Momentum

At the start of this game, you will learn about light reflection, transmission, and absorption. After a series of facts, you will race through a tunnel in a spacecraft. You must soar through barriers and collect coins. If you do not navigate around the barriers, you must answer a question correctly to continue. The start of each level gives you a new piece of information.

Lumus Journey

This game will help you learn more about light and its properties. You'll befriend a lightbulb who will take you on a journey. This lightbulb will help you discover how: light travels in waves, the different ways light is transmitted, and how light is absorbed or reflected. This game is a fun way to learn about the transmission of light.

Temple of Light

Do you dare to enter the Temple of Light? The crystal in the temple must be displayed in a museum because it is so rare. You are the only one who can retrieve it. Are you up to the challenge? As you search the levels of the temple for the crystal you will learn so much about the properties of light. Search the temple well and you will achieve a high score.

Game of Light

It's the game of light! Step right up and line up your reflectors and refractors and get the light to the appropriate color receivers. Open up gates to help get to some of the receivers and be prepared for the level that goes invisible. Make sure you track the light you are sending to the receivers too. So much to manage with so little time!

Activity 7: Simulation Game. Estimated duration: 10 min

Waves Intro - Water

Make waves with a dripping faucet, and observe the top-view or side-view of the wave. Adjust the frequency and amplitude, and observe the changes in the wave. Design experiments to measure wavelength and wave speed. Note: Students will automatically move through this simulation after 10 minutes of playtime.

Waves

Whoa! Look at that wave! There are all types of waves, and in this game, you will use transmitters to control them. You get to channel an electromagnetic wave to a designated area to win. This game is timed, so you will have to think quickly! If you need extra time, you will still have the chance to play but the module will start over.

Agent Amp

You are Agent Amp, a secret agent-in-training. Turn on the spy machine to gather more information about the possible targets. You'll match waves by adjusting the frequency and amplitude and answer questions about the properties of waves. Each successful wave and question will give you a clue. Once you've gathered all the information and found the targets, you'll pass your spy exam and beat the game!
