Seafloor Spreading

The Earth’s crust is broken up into giant pieces called tectonic plates. Tectonic plates are constantly moving creating new landforms and ocean floor crust. There are 3 types of tectonic plate movement: Convergent Boundaries- plates move towards each other. Divergent Boundary- plates move away from each other. Transform boundary- plates slide past each other. Sea floor spreading is responsible for new ocean crust and mid-ocean ridges. Ocean crust slowly moves towards ocean trenches and eventually is subducted into the mantle.

Search For The Seafloor (Mid)

In this game you will learn more about the many features of the deepest parts of the world: the seafloor. Help Jacques navigate his sub in the deep seas. Use his sub to take important pictures of the seafloor, but you will need to be careful. You will have to look out for sea mines and look for energy to increase your area of visibility. Good luck Mr. Cousteau! In this game you will learn more about the many features of the deepest parts of the world: the seafloor. Help Jacques navigate his sub in the deep seas. Seafloor Secrets

In this game, you will learn about the structures and functions of oceanic landforms. You will explore the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and its forms. Learn how the mantle makes a new crust and pushes out of the center of the mid-ocean ridge and match sea-floor land forms to their functions. Click on the correct answer to move forward in the game. Have fun recreating the ocean.

Seafloor Explorer 9

In this game you are a deep sea explorer. You have sonar and a drill so you can take samples of rock. You will be able to obtain sonar images within each rock. With each sample and each sonar reading you interact with your team at headquarters. With the help of your team, you'll understand what you are seeing and learn about deep sea rock, plate tectonics, sedimentation, and trenches.
